Shared Lives is an alternative service to the more traditional residential or day services offered for people living with Dementia based from our approved Hosts’ homes, giving family carers a break.
Shared Lives offers a personalised and bespoke service to any adult in Kent who qualifies for a social care service from Kent County Council for three main types of support:
- Day Support – one session for up to 5 hours based at our Hosts’ home at some point during the day. This can be used for anything from getting out and about, hobbies and interests or simply just doing some baking with the support of our Host.
- Short Breaks (Respite) – This can be for the occasional night or two, a weekend or a little longer again offering whatever the person is interested in doing.
- Long Term – Some of our Hosts offer a long term home where the adult would move in with our Host and their family as an alternative to residential care.
