Snodland Dementia Café was started in 2012 to provide practical support for dementia living with dementia and their carers. It meets in Christ Church Hall, Malling Road, Snodland, ME6 5EE, twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays between 11am and 1.30pm. New members are always welcome.
A typical morning starts with coffee and chat with space for news, worries and concerns to be talked over in a relaxed atmosphere while everyone arrives. Carers can then go and share their concerns with each other in another room while their partners take part in activities based on Cognitive Stimulation Therapy supported by a team of volunteers.
Carers are welcome to stay and participate in the activities if they prefer.
Everyone then comes together for a light lunch at 12.30pm. Sometime there is a guest speaker on a topic chosen by the group. A donation of £2.50 for the session is asked for to cover costs.
